Achievements & reliability
Recognition for showing up, teaching well and giving back
Badges unlock automatically as your swaps add up. Your reliability is simply a record of whether you turn up for the sessions you agreed to.
Badges are recognition only
How badges unlock
Earned by taking part in swaps
Achievements are checked automatically when a session completes, when you leave feedback and when a project submission is reviewed.
Completed swaps
A swap counts once both of its sessions are completed: the one you taught and the one you learned.
Teaching
Every completed session where you were the one teaching counts toward teaching badges.
Learning
Every completed session where you were the one learning counts toward learning badges.
Feedback
Leaving thoughtful feedback for your swap partners helps the whole community and counts too.

Reliability
A swap only works if both of you show up
There are no fees or penalties to pay. Reliability is a record: it nudges match ranking and decides some badges.
Late cancellations
Cancelling a session less than 24 hours before it starts is recorded as a late cancellation. A late cancellation of a session you were teaching rules out the Reliable Teacher badge.
No-shows
If your partner doesn’t turn up, you can report a no-show from 15 minutes after the start. A person reviews it.
Disputes
A disputed session doesn’t count toward anything until a person decides whether it took place.
Ratings
An average rating is only shown after at least 3 different people have rated someone, so one review can’t define anyone.
The full cancellation and dispute rules are on How it works.
The fine print
What achievements are not
- Not money, credits or points. They have no cash value and can’t be exchanged for anything.
- Not transferable between members, and can’t be bought or sold.
- Not a certificate. A badge shows activity on SwapUs; verified skills are reviewed separately.
- Not a ranking. There are no leaderboards, and nobody needs badges to find a swap.
Your first badge starts with your first swap
